arc winter drive

Winter Drive for Necessities
The Association of Religious Communities (ARC) in Danbury has sent out an appeal for contributions to their Winter Drive for Personal Goods. Here’s their letter:Winter’s here again, and it’s going to be here for quite a while. For some, though, it’s going to be hard just to meet some very basic needs. During the months of January and February, we expect that around 300 people in our community, who are at or below the poverty line, will not be able to get some of these basic needs met. To offset the suffering and struggling, we ask your congregation to conduct a drive for basic items.

We hope your congregation will collect 50 of any of the following items by February 1st:

~winter socks (thick and warm)
~knit winter caps
~men’s disposable razors
~bars of soap
~tubes of toothpaste
~toothbrushes (all adult)

We are well into the frigid temperatures of another New England winter, and our supplies are running low. Your support will be deeply appreciated.

My sincere thanks,
Alexandra E. Zipparo
WCSU Social Work Student and ARC Intern

We’ll have a collection bin in the Parish House for your donations. Thanks!

Souper Bowl for Caring

Souper Bowl of Caring—February 1st
As we all wait to see who will be playing in Super Bowl XLIII, we look forward with anticipation as thousands of young people across the country join together to demonstrate God’s love and compassion to those in need in our communities. With our nation’s economy in crisis, this year’s Souper Bowl of Caring on February 1 presents us all with the timely opportunity to step out in faith. We can all do our part to provide help to charities who are struggling to support our neighbors who are hungry and hurting.
Our Confirmation Class will be taking up the Souper Bowl for Caring collection during our Sunday Service on February 1st.

Flowers

Donate Flowers for Sunday Morning
The flowers in the sanctuary each Sunday morning are always beautiful and made even more so by the spirit of remembrance or celebration in which they’re given. With just a few months until the new year, it’s time to start planning the 2009 flower calendar. Please think about which Sunday(s) you’d like to honor someone special or celebrate an occasion by giving flowers, and call Melinda Albert at 354-3564 or email her at: lindyanne7@charter.net.

Crib Room

Baby & Toddler Childcare on Sunday Mornings
We really need volunteers for the crib room during the Sunday morning service. Our middle-schoolers can't provide childcare during their Confirmation classes. The more volunteers we get, the more we can spread ourselves out over the schedule! Call the office at 860-354-8283 or email office@BridgewaterCOngregationalChurch.org.
